Formhaul

InfoPath forms to PDF and CSV, without InfoPath

Drop in the form template (.xsn) and the filled forms: loose .xml files, a whole folder, or the zip SharePoint gives you when you download a form library. Formhaul draws every form the way its view laid it out, saves each one as a PDF, and puts every field into one table. It all happens in this tab. The files are never uploaded.

Reads

Templates from InfoPath 2003 to 2013, browser forms included, and the .xml forms filled in from them.

Gives you

A searchable PDF of each form, one CSV and Excel workbook of every field, and the attached files.

Costs

Reading and previewing are free. Exporting everything is US$149 once per organisation.

An .xsn template, .xml forms, folders, or a .zip of a form library. Several templates at once is fine.

Nothing is uploaded. What the page does with your files

What it reads

Form templates (.xsn) from InfoPath 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013, including browser forms published to SharePoint. A template saved as source files works too: drop the folder that holds manifest.xsf.

Filled forms are the .xml files that start with an mso-infoPathSolution line. Each is matched to its template by the solution name in that line. Forms saved with an older version of the template go through the template's own upgrade step first, the way InfoPath handled them.

What comes out

A PDF for each form with real text you can search and copy, tables, check boxes, drop-down choices, pictures and every row of every repeating section. Views wider than the page are turned sideways and scaled to fit. Each page has the form's file name and a page number at the foot.

The field table has one row per form and a column per field, in the order the template defines them. Each repeating section also gets its own table, one row per item. How the table is laid out

What it cannot do

Template code (C#, VB, JScript) is never run, and data connections to SharePoint lists or web services cannot be reached, so a drop-down that was filled from a list shows the stored value rather than its display name. Digital signatures are listed, not checked.

The common Windows fonts are swapped for open fonts with the same letter widths, so a line can break in a slightly different place than it did in InfoPath.

Your forms stay on this computer

The template and the forms are read by code in this page and kept in this tab's memory until you close it. Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network and it keeps working. Details for a security review

The free preview shows every form on screen and exports the first three as PDFs. Pricing
